Writing for Academic Publication

 Writing for Academic Publication

This 20 credit Masters level module is designed to guide and support University of Brighton and partner college staff wishing to write for academic publication (including journal articles, books, book chapters, reports). Participants will examine the writing process, develop confidence with writing, explore outlets for publication and select an outlet appropriate for their work, and produce a final draft of a piece suitable for publication as part of the assessment.  The two day workshop is open to those registering for the whole module and intending to submit a written piece for assessment of 4,000-7,000 words.

The module will be delivered via a two-day workshop on: Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 September 2018, on the Falmer Campus, and is supported by writing processes including working with critical friends, online discussion and follow up peer support sessions.

The follow up peer support session dates will be negotiated during the two day workshop (venues to be confirmed) and attendance at two of the three sessions is a requirement of the course.

The module is open to full and part-time lecturers, research staff or other members of staff interested in writing for academic publication. For more information or to join the course, please contact: Alison Curry at a.j.curry@brighton.ac.uk or X3115 or 01273 643115

If you are interested in writing for academic publication but not able to commit to the full course, we will be running some writing workshops in September-December 2018.  Please refer to the Staff Development Calendar for further details and how to sign up.
