Discounted software for staff

​This page contains details of software that is available to university staff for use on their own personal computers. All the software is either heavily discounted, or free, for staff as part of our site licenses and purchasing agreements.

Please note that these versions have not always been tested as compatible with University central or business services and may not reflect the same version as a managed staff or student desktop machine.

Free MS Office for staff

All university staff can download the latest version of Microsoft Office on their own computers, for free, as part of the university's Office 365 agreement with Microsoft.  See our MS Office for staff page for more details.

 

Don't want Microsoft Office?

if you need to work on files stored on SharePoint My Files, My Department or staffcentral, you can open these in the browser if you haven't got the MS Office desktop applications installed.
 

​Windows 10 for staff for £14.60

As part of our campus agreement with Microsoft, University of Brighton staff working more than 200 hours per year are entitled to purchase a copy of Windows  for £14.60 to download onto on one of their own computers. Each staff member is eligible for one copy of the software
 
To do this:

  • Visit http://brighton.ac.onthehub.com
  • Sign in with your university username and passwordin with your university username and password
  • Select 'Windows 10 Education' and check that the system requirements match your PC
  • Add a copy to your cart
  • Checkout, pay and ensure you download the software within 31 days
  • Physical copies of the installation media are not available but software is available that allows you to burn the installer to a DVD or USB stick.
  • If you experience any problems, use the Help section of the site.
Hard copies of the software are available for an additional £8.95.

BSMS staff paid by the University of Sussex can purchase Office from the University of Sussex IT services. Proof of employment, in the form of a University of Sussex staff ID card, is required. Click the Software Discounts page on the University of Sussex website for more information.


Free Adobe software for staff

 As part of the university's site license, staff can download applications from the Adobe Creative Cloud suite for use on one home computer. You can also access a selection of Adobe mobile apps. All free of charge.

Adobe Creative Cloud offers a number of industry leading applications including PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premier, Dreamweaver, Flash Professional and more so this is a fantastic offer.

Free MindGenius software for staff and students

The university has a site licence for MindGenius 5 mind mapping software, which is on all university student computers and all staff machines.

Staff and students can also download MindGenius on their home computers for free. For more information, see our MindGenius page (requires a log-in with your university username and password). 

 

Endnote software for staff and students

 

All staff and students have access to Endnote Online but you can also purchase the full version of Endnote.

All staff and students can download ChemOffice for use on their own personal computer. Follow the link below to Cambridgesoft.com and enter your University of Brighton email address to verify that you are entitled to the software.
