Email services

 About your email account

  • Your university email address will be activated when you enrol online for your course.
  • You can continue to access your Brighton email address for 18 months after you graduate
  • The university uses your student email address for important communication. You must check your university email regularly.



Your email address

Your email address is made from your first initial, your surname and a number to keep it unique followed by the site address, for example:

If you are a BSMS student your address will have the site address,  For example or


  • You will be given your email address after you have enrolled online.
  • If you have forgotten your email address, you can find it out by connecting to MyInfo at   
  • There may be a number in your email address to ensure that people with the same first initial and surname are given a different email address.

The student email service is provided through a partnership between the university and Microsoft and is part of the Office 365 package available to students. 

By accessing your mail​​ you are also accessing the other services that Office 365 provides including ​1 Tb of storage with OneDrive and free Microsoft Office software​ to download.
