Email services for staff 

How to access your email

​As a member of staff or researcher you will have an account on the university's Microsoft Exchange email service. The service enables you to manage your email as well as your online calendar, contacts, and task lists. 

 Access via an email application

Standard staff computers have Outlook installed on them. We recommend you use one of these email clients for the best experience with email.

  • Outlook on MS Windows computers
  • Outlook  on Apple OS X computers
  • Mail on Apple iOS devices such as iPhones and iPads.

Home working?

University staff can install the latest version of Office and Outlook on up to five computers at home for free. See the Office for staff​ pages for more information. 

 Access with your web browser


​You can also access your email via the web using the staffmail service. If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer you will have all the available tools and features, but staffmail  also works with Safari and Firefox. Google Chrome is not recommended.

To access your email via staffmail:

  • open your web browser and go to logon.jpg
  • log in with your university username (for example abc1) but not your full email address
  • select the option for using a private computer in order for all features to work. However, if you are in a public area, such as an internet cafe, you should select the option for a public computer.
