When you move in to your accommodation we will issue you with your UniCard which will allow you to access your room.

Partner College Students

  • Upload your photo via studentcentral before term starts, so that it is ready for collection during your colleges’ enrolment sessions.

  • Alternatively your photo will be taken during your college's enrolment sessions and uploaded to the University of Brighton to produce your UniCard. These will then be dispatched to each college for distribution which should be within 2 weeks of your enrolment session.

Returning Students

You can keep your existing UniCard while you are a member of the University of Brighton. You do not have to replace it every year.

Staff

Once your card has been printed please wait 15 minutes before attempting to use it.

You may need to wait up to 1.5 hours (students) or 2 hours (staff) before you can borrow books and other items from the library.

 Set up your UniCard

IMPORTANT

When you have your new UniCard, you must set it up so that you can use it to access rooms and purchase items. Find out how to

Remember to wait 15 minutes before attempting to setup your card!

 Lost or stolen cards

If your UniCard is lost or stolen you must cancel it as soon as you can to prevent others from spending your funds, or borrowing items in your name.

Find out what to do here.

 Changing your details

Changes to your course (for students) or your job title (for staff) is information that is not printed on the UniCard and therefore will not require a new card to be produced.

Name changes

If your name changes, you should take evidence of the name change, for example deed poll confirmation or a marriage certificate, to your local Student Information Desk or library and you will be given a new UniCard free of charge.

Changes to appearance

If your appearance changes so significantly that someone looking at the card cannot recognise you from your photo, you may require a new UniCard. There is a £10 fee for replacement UniCards, but Student Information Desk staff or library staff may waive the fee at their discretion depending on the circumstances.

Leaving the university

Once you have completed your studies your entitlements will normally be withdrawn after 52 days so your UniCard will continue to work on campus during that time.

You don’t need to return the card to us. Students may retain their UniCards in case they return to the university in the future to attend another course in which case the same card may be reused.
